This year’s jury consisted of comic artists Osamu Akimoto and Machiko Satonaka, singer and actress Minami Takahashi, writer and art and design teacher at Tohoku University Yukiko Tomiyama, professor and academic Shōhei Chūjō, manga critic Nobunaga Minami, and comedian and comic artist Taro Yabe. The nominees were selected from a longer list of titles chosen by specialists and bookstores. To be eligible for the award, manga must have at least one collected volume published in 2023.

The award ceremony will take place on June 6. The Grand Prize winner will receive a bronze statue and 2 million yen (approximately €12,300), while the other winners will receive a bronze statue and 1 million yen (approximately €6,150).
